Downloading
From WonSwap:
Sierra Sports/Papyrus has really outdone themselves with the
Self Extracting "Setups" Program for WonSwap built right into
the installation of NASCAR Racing 3. How many times have we
downloaded a setup and didn't know where to put it once we
got it, until a friend or fellow racer showed us or told us what
to do? With WonSwap those days are gone!! When you install
your NASCAR RACING 3 software you will be prompted to install
the "WonSwap Program" and all we can say is "Do It" ! This
utility will allow sim racers to go directly to the WonSwap web
site by placing the WonSwap icon on their desktops as a
shortcut.
The first time you go to the WonSwap web site you'll be
prompted to install a small upgrade to assist the install. After
that, you'll have no more worries when downloading setups for
NASCAR Racing 3. The best part of the WonSwap program is
that it installs the setup you are downloading to the correct
track without the user having to manually install it as in the
past. This saves all the confusion about how and where the
setup goes. Setups are posted almost daily at WonSwap by
the top racers in the world to better assist the new sim
enthusiast. New sim racers often don't have the time or the
ability it takes to build a competitive setup or in turn, the
understanding of what adjustments they can make the setup
they are working on a little better for their own particular
driving style.
The WonSwap web site is a great source of information for
even the most experienced sim racers also. All sim racers
agree that getting better, faster, and learning what makes the
setup do what you want it to is a lot of fun! Then, once you
get the hang of creating a setup you might want to add your
setup to WonSwap and take pride in knowing that maybe
someone out there is learning and getting better from your
achievements.
Uploading To WonSwap:
You can now share your fantastic setups with others through
WonSwap. First, click on the WonSwap icon on your desktop.
Your web browser will then automatically open. Second, click

Next, you'll now see a prompt saying that you can only upload
setups that are for tracks that shipped with the game, click
next. You now need to choose the location of your setup you
wish to upload to WonSwap on your computer, click browse.
Find that .stg setup file on your computer, most likely it's in
your C:/papyrus/NASCAR3/tracks/ directory in the track's
subfolder. Find that setup and click on it, then click open. You
will now see the same prompt with the location of your setup
on your computer, click next. Now enter your name, optional

information, so click add file, or next if you don't have anything
else to add. You are now done with all the steps and ready to
upload, so click next. Then, click on the button saying
WonSwap. Afterwards, you can search the page to see if your
setup(s) are posted on WonSwap. (You might need to refresh
the page). To sign off, click on quit, and you are done. Many
NASCAR Racing 3 sim drivers can now enjoy your setup by
downloading it from WonSwap.
SPECIFIC SETUP ISSUES AND NASCAR RACING 3:
From the evolution of NASCAR1 to NASCAR Racing 3 we have
all seen and experienced the many changes and specifics made
to the sim to get it as real as possible. With the arrival of
NASCAR Racing 3, you are now able to fine tune the car more
than ever before for your particular driving style and track
conditions.
In the past we were somewhat limited to the adjustments we
could make if the car was too tight or too loose at different
points in the turns. We were also hampered somewhat with
the ability to manage tire wear for the long haul not to
mention creating more or less downforce on the setup.
NASCAR Racing 3 now gives us all of these options to better
the setup and our own performance. In the past when the
setup was too tight or too loose all we could do was add or
remove cross weight, adjust front to rear weight and adjust
shock tension. With the added feature of Front and Rear Sway
Bar adjustments in you'll be able to conquer a lot of tire wear
and loose or tight problems with the setup. Previously we
wished we could get the car to handle better through or
coming off of the turns. Front and Rear Sway Bars will fix a
pushing or loose problem with a setup in the turns. If the sway
bars help in the turns, their biggest advantage may be the
ability to save tire wear and we all know "Tires is What Wins a
Race". Sway bars allow less friction on the tires, reducing their
wear.
Spoiler and front to rear weight adjustments were all we had
to increase or decrease downforce on the setup in the past.
With the added feature of "Grill Tape" in NASCAR Racing 3 we
can add or remove as much downforce as we need to make
the setup handle better. It is very wise to keep in mind that
adding too much tape will cause a heating problem with the
engine in the long run and possible engine failure. Of course
you can pit during a race and remove some tape to get more
air to the motor for it to cool down. With the qualifying setup
more tape is better allowing more downforce on the nose and
raising the RPMs making your car faster. No one thing will make
the car last or make it run faster as there are many things to
adjust for the total package. Still, NASCAR Racing 3's added
features of sway bars and grill tape will give you the ability to
be the NASCAR Crew Chief you always wanted to be.
